I think I'll write a book...

In Robert Wright's words, “We aren't designed to stand on crowded subway platforms, or to live in suburbs next door to people we never talk to, or to get hired or fired, or to watch the evening news. This disjunction between the contexts of our design and of our lives is probably responsible for much psychopathology, as well as much suffering of a less dramatic sort.” Of all the reading I did this fall, that was the quote that struck me hardest and stuck with me most faithfully.

I want to let that quote guide a well-researched (beginning with the ten books above) memoir of my experiences with the mental health system (this blog post is just a glimpse) and the insane world from whence it sprang.

In my wildest dreams this would become the companion of/successor to Kay Redfield Jamison's An Unquiet Mind .

Anything I write along the way will appear here, keep an eye out.
